• There is only a handful of them and I am pretty sure that if the top two or three get fines and get their equipment confiscated, the rest just may get the hint and stop the nonsense. I have seen pictures of these jerks and I don't think one of them has a job or looks like anyone would hire them to even flip hamburgers so a loss of a few hundred/thousand dollars of equipment would be quite a setback.

• I accidentally landed on 275 the other day…. I heard someone talking. Then nothing for around 20 minutes. Then I heard a Latino gentleman call CQ…. I replied and we QSO'ed for a bit…. Then in the middle of the guy's third QSO, I heard some jerk start to call CQ over him. Didn't ask if the frequency was clear or anything. When asked why he didn't follow gentleman's rules of conduct, he uttered a filthy word, made a snide comment about the guys nationality and told him that with a radio as bad as his he didn't deserve to be a ham. I broke in stated my call sign and tried to defend the guy. I know I shouldn't have but it was painful to listen to. The Latino ham moved up to 277.5 and KZ8O moved over to 277.5 and started in again Walking on the guy. [Listen to the clips!]

• This would have been a great contest if the bands would have been in a bit better shape, and the FCC would do something about KZ8O (ex ND8V) who I found going up and down the band around 14.275 running off anyone trying to operate near "his" frequency. I felt sorry for the N7 station that was on 14.278 into a good run only to have KZ8O start calling him a "scumbag" for about 5 minutes until the N7 station had to move.

BTW, I’ve heard the term “Rag CQ’ing” as an acronym to describe someone who is constantly calling CQ just to cause interference. I have just run across someone who is using “Rag Calling” to do the same. Calling the same station over and over and over [KI4LUB and/or N8JOX who his neighbour!], just to cause interference to some Hispanic stations next door [14.277] to “his” frequency [14.275]. And again, it's being done by a ham that Riley has let off the hook dozens of times [KZ8O/nd8v].

I was especially ashamed (as an American) of the comment made one day when a South African was on or near 14275 and he had a little pile-up going. Of course, the man in Kalamazoo can't have anyone on or near HIS frequency. So he picks a fight with the South African, stating; "The only thing you people in Africa have ever done for us is given us niggers and AIDS!"

• Uncool things: Wide, mushy, bassy audio... Misadjusted amps that splatter... The "Pig Farmer" [KZ8O/nd8v] on 14.275 running multiple kilowatts to talk across the street [N8JOX], who fired up and told me that he didn’t care if I was there and wanted to finish my QSO before I relinquished the frequency. His quote: "Too bad, this frequency is mine every Sunday at 2, contester, now go away!". This “gentleman” has fun by recording contest station exchanges and playing them back to unsuspecting stations.

  I note the repeated comments as to 'why it took the FCC so long to act' and when it might seriously consider tackling the handful of world-wide "embarrassments" heard on HF for example....
  
  In this regard I note with interest the otherwise unremarkable/innocuous comments by W4KHR on 6 May and believe that he was referring to ND8V a.k.a. Mikee and his well-documented misdeeds in the middle of the 20m Band....
  
  Look ND8V up on the Internet generally and/or on the ARRL FCC Enforcement Logs [http://www.arrl.org/news/enforcement_logs/] in particular, to get a glimpse of this truly "Ugly American". Before anyone tries to jump down my throat, I am an American by choice, not by accident of birth, HI. Also look up early versions of the investigative/opinion article about him entitled "The Life of Riley" on the Internet generally or, better yet, drop me a short e-mail at N9VTB@Yahoo.com and I'll send you the latest annotated version thereof....
  
  In light of my experience with ND8V--and Riley Hollingsworth K4ZDH--I can not help but think that this may in part be selective enforcement at the FCC.... Before anyone again tries to jump down my throat, let me say clearly that Jack should obviously answer for his actions. To the extent that Jack's case will be in front of a semi-impartial adjudicator [unlike the Kangaroo Court a.k.a. 'Trial By Press Release' run by Riley], he will presumably have the opportunity of full answer and defense.
  
  Speaking of defense, if anyone reading this knows Jack and/or his attorney, have him/them contact me. I would be happy to share my experience--and shoe-boxes of correspondence and audio-recordings--on the ND8V file with him/them.

On December 14, 2004, we sent a letter to you enclosing a complaint against the operation of your station on November 21, 2004, on 14.269 MHz. We also sent you a digital recording of the communications referenced in the complaint. The complaint alleges deliberate interference to ongoing communications, that you claimed to be operating a net, and that you used a false call sign, "VE7KFM." Also on the recording a voice that appears to be yours states "See how big my signal is? I will head hunt you the rest of the weekend." A preliminary analysis of the recording, in comparison with known recordings of your station, indicates that it is your voice on the recording…. You were requested to address the allegations, with a written and notarized statement…. Your reply dated January 21, 2005, was not notarized and did not fully address the complaint. As a result, you are requested to provide the following information within 20 days of receipt of this letter…. Your response must be in writing, signed, dated and notarized. [The last emphasis was in the original. The requirement that the response be notarized was unprecedented!]
